feiture of anything exceeding, in the opinion of

the trial court, two thousand dollars in value,

shall be subject to confirmation by the mirector

of Civil Affairs, or by an Officer to whom he

shall have delegated authority in writing.

Article 21.

Imprisonment pending confirmation of sentence.

In any case in which a sentence of

imprisonment imposed by the Standing Military

Court requires to be confirmed or is made the

subject of a review the Court may order that the

offender be kept in custody pending such confirma-

tion or review or be released on bail.

Article 22.

Review of Sentences•

(1) No appeal shall lie from the finding,

sentence or order of the Standing Military Court,

but any person aggrieved by any such finding,

sentence or order made against him may, within

fourteen days from the date thereof, lodge a

petition for review. The petition shall be in

writing and addressed to the trial court, for

transmission to the Deputy Director.

(2) In cases coming to them for review under Article this section the General Officer Commanding the

British and Allied Forces and the Director of

Civil Affairs may exercise any of the power's

conferred by Article 25 of this Proclamation upon

a confirming authority, notwithstanding any action

which may have been taken previously by a

confirming authority.

Article 23

Fowers of confirming authority.

The confirming authority may -

(a) uphold the finiing and sentence; er

(b) uphold the finding and reduce or vary the

sentence provided that no sentence of greater

severity shall be imposed; or
